The Aim And Projects
1.Our aims are to encourage and give aid to professional,amateur and sporting fishing; to initiate fishing activities; to raise the interest of ambitious anglers to enjoy marine life, to organize fishing , diving and sightseeing activities, meetings and conferences to improve our town and community, to contact with local and international organizations and associations regarding this aim.
2.To collaborate with “NPO” nonprofit organizations and government authorities for developing, advertising and protecting our town for better living.
3.To apply and act to diffuse the planned and controlled fishing with authorized organizations
4.To engage in all kind of activities, studies for developing fishing culture, to seek assistance from press and media within this purpose.
5.To create various projects in order to unite our members, to help the needy ones whom has low social and economic standarts of living.
6.To construct harbor and maintenance facilities to protect the vessels and fishing equipments of our members; to protect their properties and to establish or/and join to economic institutes and organizations.
7.To get in touch with local and international organizations, experts of fishing and aqua-products in order to obtain their support and to share the knowledge with our members.
8.To create cooperation and support among our members, to help the needy ones at the event of birth,death and wedding etc.
9.To pay at most sensitivity to pollution of our environment ie: our habitat, our town and sea,
to act to protect the ecological balance of the environment; to support other “NPO” nonprofit organizations and government institutes for this purpose.
ORGANIZATION and STRUCTURE OF “OFA”
OFA is a nonprofit, tax exempt assosiation, supported by its membership and governed by an Executive Committe. OFA is committed to looking out for the interest of entire fishing community. Our goal is to give industry and community an unified voice on behalf of fishermen.
We are planning to organize sightseeüng, fishing and diving tours in ISTANBUL as well as at the other coasts of TURKEY (ie: at Black Sea, Aegean and Mediterranian Sea)
Presentation:
Oseanodrom fishes (bonito,blue fish,horse mackerel etc) start to move and go from Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara, Aegean Sea and Mediterranian and they have repeated this remigration (run) in spring for many centuries.
We still have the opportunity to ameliorate the habitat and ecological balance of Istanbul Posphorus since it has been distroyed and spoiled by humans and other factors.
The time has come and has being passing, to use this possibility.. Cause there isn’t any other Istanbul Bosphorus!
We can create the need of the nature “sea habitat” by our project; to soon setle into shape.
Process:
We can create artificial sea reef piscaries similar to that in Hamburg, Tokyo et cetera, even in our country: Izmir, Kuşadası, Burhaniye etc.The ideal materials for this reefs are man-made cement/iron concrete cubes,balls etc.Wagons and used buses can also used in a kind of control and discipline.We can make them benefitcial as we have them already.
We can execute our project by optaining the reports and ideas of Association of Professional Fishermen, İstanbul University, Faculty of Fishery Products, other organizations and institutions.The junks will be placed down on the appropriate sea beds and here the micro-organisms,algeas etc.(the very first circle of nutrition chain will start to live soon at these reefs) Then, the other small sea creatures, crustaceans and other species will live there. This new formation will soon invite the local fish species to nest over these reefs which will furnish to increase the population of fish species in the Bosphorus.
Effectiveness:
The oseanodrom fishes complete their run in very short period of time since the sea bed and reevies had been destroyed and they have none, or less bait “fishes” as mentioned in“Presentation” above. Their run is fast ( if they alive İN vessels’ drag-nets at the entrance of the Bosphorus. But their stay in the Bosphorus will be much longer since they will be able to find varied and aboundant bait here. The fishermen will benefit .As a result; this new formation will create business opportunity for millions of jobless people in our country.
Additional adopted measures:
The wide pedestrian lanes should be arranged not only for anglers but in the public interest at the various coastal places Beşiktaş, Aşiyan, Rumeli Hisarı etc.Our Association is also studying to organize some diving and fishing tours for tourists.
